Well we finally started our trip to Canada. We left Perth on Thursday night and landed in Auckland on Friday morning. Flight was fine and we were completely buggered by the time we got to NZ as it is 5 hours difference between nz and Perth so we basically pulled an all nighter. We then met up with my parents who had been in Auckland for the last couple of days and flew down to New Plymouth a couple of hours later.
Our sister Kirstin is here studying to become a surgeon and we also came here for her 30th birthday party which we had on saturday night at a nice restaurant in town.
The area of Taranaki is pretty cool, it’s a coastal town, very small and it is over looked by Mt Taranaki which is covered with a small amount of snow at the moment. You can walk to the summit in about 5 hours (don’t think i’ll do that i’m too lazy!). So far we have walked along the beach and walked around the base of the mountain and walked through town to look at art galleries and have coffees so there has been a bit of walking around. It’s suppose to be summer here but when we first arrived it was wet, windy and cold coupld of days so we didn’t enjoy that at first! Perth is 35C!!
We just heard that Kicking Horse may be opening the mountain earlier than expected so we may be getting to the resort a week earlier. That means we probably won’t go to Las Vegas but we will probably do that later in the year. Just waiting to here back from the resort tho..
Anyway, NZ is good so far and we will try and update more soon!
