All ready

Saturday, September 23rd, 2006

Well we picked up our tickets today. I also picked up my travel bag as well. Got it 50% off from Kathmandu. I love there sales.

So back to the tickets, we paid all the money last week, so just needed to pick them up this week. It sucks! I got a piece of paper for my ticket. Yep, an A4 sheet. That is it, nothing more, no neat little book with wafer thin pages in it, no funky red writing. I’m annoyed, i paid almost 2 times as much as Jess, yet she gets a nice little book with the funky red writing and wafer thin pages. Grrr, how sucky is that. I would have thought that would be the least that they could do for me. I am so going to be an ass now. I will try and drink them dry, won’t work but im going to try. Anyhow that is enough of a rant from me. Apart from that everything is going along dandy. It’s about 6 weeks till we leave now. Everything is slowley creaping up on us. Work is boring, but what is new? it always is. Have fun.

Success!

Friday, September 15th, 2006

Well a few days after going for my Interview, i got my Passport back with a lovely sticker in it. My US B1/B2 Visa. It is good to finally have it, although the border guard can decide if he wants me in there or not, and for how long. Which kind of defeats the whole reason for having the visa in the first place. It is good to have it anyhow, hopefully there won’t be any problems! Only 2 months till we leave now. It is fast approaching… :S

Interview

Monday, September 11th, 2006

Well the ball is well and truly rolling now. I went for my Interview with the US Consulate today. You may wonder why i need a Visa, being an Australian. I generally don’t need one, but seeing as i am working in Canada, I need a visa for the US. Make sense of that! It has to be the first experience i have had get inside a consulate in Australia. I had to pass thru 2 scanning machines, 1 xray machine, 2 bullet/ explosive proof doors. and then talk to a lady behind a bullet proof window. It looked over the top, but you could see why it was so. There seems to be a fair bit of hate toward America today. I thought that it would be a bit unnerving going in on the 5th anniversary of the Trade Centre bombings. It felt like a normal day after it all. I got my finger prints taken, no ink either. Bit bummed about that!I would have liked the ink stain, but it was a laser thingo. I find out later on this week if  i get the visa. Hopefully i do, i don’t see any problems. I did have to fill out another form that my sis didn’t have to do. It was only for guys aged between 19-26. Weird i know, but it only asked me to list my entire history, where i schooled, where i  used to work, where i  used to do anything. I didn’t enjoy that form, it was just to much information. I’m not even working in the US for god’s sake! Grr!! Anyhow that is over now hopefully you will hear more good news soon on it!
